Natural Electricity

There are two forms of electricity that occur in nature

  1. Static electricity
  2. Bioelectricity

Both natural forms of electricity played a crucial role in our understanding of first electricity and then the link to magnetism giving us the joint force of electromagnetism.

Before we cover these two forms of electricity we need to define what electricity is. Simply put electricity is a movement of attractive or repulsive charge due to an excess or debt of electrons between two materials. When there is movement of electrical force or charge there is said to be an electrical current flowing, or moving (in reality the electrons themselves don’t move but the charge does).

All electricity works by the movement of electromagnetic charge from one place to another. If there is a big difference between

For batteries the movement is caused by one material wanting to take electrons to create a lower energy state – once the material has all the electrons it needs no more movement and no more elecitru

Here is a super brief intro to both forms.
